About us
Lake Isle Retreats is an initiative which hosts spiritual retreats on Inis Rath Island, Upper Lough Erne. Inis
Rath is owned by ISKCON N.I. Ltd., a registered charity based in Northern Ireland (No. XN79215). ISKCON is an
abbreviation for the International Society for Krishna Consciousness.
ISKCON is a worldwide spiritual organisation which promotes the Vedic culture and philosophy of ancient India.
According to tradition, higher knowledge was passed down from guru to student for millennia, and in modern times we
began to refer to various systems such as 'hinduism', 'buddhism', etc. However, in the original understanding,
spirituality was referred to as sanatana dharma, or the eternal occupation of the soul (i.e. every
soul).
Lake Isle Retreats welcomes everyone in the world to enjoy the special ambience of a real modern day island of
spirituality. Inis Rath Island has ten residents and there is a community of ten families that live nearby.
