Tastes
of the Orient
Friday August
27th to Sunday August 29th

Learn how to cook Oriental-style on this residential weekend break. You can see it as a
'working' holiday that you'll really enjoy. Retreat workshops and cookery demos led by Syamanand a Das (pictured above) and Carmen McEvitt. In this retreat we'll explore a combination of Thai,
Chinese and Indian cookery styles, covering many tasty preparations from the Far East. Curry, samosas, fancy
rice, spring rolls, stir fry vegetables with soya chunks and paneer are some of the delicacies that you will
learn how to make. Print-outs of recipes are supplied.
In keeping with the ethos of our retreat centre, all food is healthy vegetarian. However
if you are not a vegetarian (and even if you are!) you will discover some interesting tips with paneer (a kind of
cheese) and soya t hat will have any mixed omnivourous dinner party fooled into thinking you are serving an
impressive presentation of standard fare.
Arrival: The general arrival time for
retreats is 6pm. As you need to cross on a ferry to get to the island, it is most convenient to have everyone
arrive for 6pm. However, if you want to arrive later or a little earlier, that
can be arranged.
