We regret to inform you that we will not be running any retreats on the island until further notice. Inis Rath is a wonderful place for retreats, so we look forward to hosting these spiritual short-breaks in the future. At this point, we can't give a re-starting date. LakeisleRetreats.com will remain online, waiting for our return. It is likely we'll organise some retreats at other venues this year, and more details will follow.

Q. Why are you not running retreats on Inis Rath Island  at present?

Ans.

  1. Over the course of 2011 five hard-working volunteers left Inis Rath to work elsewhere. These people did various services in the maintenance of the island and temple, and many of the services have not been replaced.
  2. Our much loved monk Syamananda, a co-retreat host with Tim - and the main cook - was requested to serve in an international spiritual university from June 2011. Some of the services he does for our retreats are irreplaceable. We look forward to his return.
  3. The 12-tonne vehicle and passenger ferry boat - which is the main link between the island and the mainland - requires a substantial financial maintenance investment which the island's owner, ISKCON NI Ltd, does not currently have.

I regret letting you, the reader, know this information. Today is Monday. Over the weekend I had two phone messages: One from a lady called Stella asking to book her third weekend retreat with us for the third year in a row, and the second from a researcher for RTE asking to make a documentary about us. With your blessings, hopefully we can be back on track as soon as possible.
